Research Project: Diabrotica Genetics Consortium

Location: Corn Insects and Crop Genetics Research

Project Number: 3625-22000-016-12
Project Type: Nonfunded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 28, 2005
End Date: Apr 30, 2009

Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research project is to increase our knowledge in all areas of, and relevant to, corn rootworm (Diabrotica spp.) genetics.

Approach:
Approach will entail studies of population genetics; development of molecular markers; molecular ecology and phylogeography; quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis of important traits; linkage mapping; identification and mapping of genes or candidate genes conferring insecticide resistance; identification, cloning, sequencing, regulation, and expression of genes; functional analysis of gene products; and establishment of artificially selected laboratory lines.
