How to Use this Directory
On the side bar, select the name of the trail to see a closeup of map of the trail and detailed descriptions including useful tips on what to expect such as length, permitted uses, trail surface, trail highlights, connections to regional trails and directions to trailheads.

Mileage is not listed for non-refuge trails. The numbers on the overview map corresponds with the number associated with the trail name. 

General Trail Information
Trails are open 7 days a week, from sunrise to sunset. Trails near the Visitor Center in Fremont are closed on Thanksgiving day, January 1, and December 25. Trails are periodically closed for maintenance or restoration projects. Check the Alerts link or call the Visitor Center at 510-792-0222 ext. 363 and Environmental Education Center at 408-262-5513 for the latest trail information. 

Please stay on trails and out of closed areas to minimize disturbance to plants and animals. All trails allow bicycles except for LaRiviere Marsh Trail near the Visitor Center. Dogs on a 6-foot leash are permitted only on the the Tidelands Trail, Harrier Spur Trail, Quarry Trail, and Marshlands Road near the Visitor Center in Fremont. Dogs are prohibited on all other trails and lands throughout the refuge. All motor vehicles are prohibited on refuge trails to protect ecologically sensitive areas.
