Interactive Maps Support Climate Resilience Planning in Louisiana

This story, featured in the 2022 NOAA Science Report, describes how Louisiana Sea Grant and the Pointe-au-Chien Indian Tribe worked together to create mapping tools to support decision making and resilience planning to adapt and prepare for climate change.

The Pointe-au-Chien Indian Tribe’s land, located around the Louisiana Terrebonne Basin, is vulnerable to erosion, sea level rise, and impacts of hurricanes. The work from this project, including scientific research and traditional ecological knowledge, helps support the Pointe-au-Chien Indian Tribe’s efforts to preserve their fishing community, petition for federal recognition, and plan for climate change.
